Are you passionate about improving the university experience for commuter students? Want to make a real difference while building leadership skills, boosting your CV, and meeting new people? 

We are looking for a Commuter Student Lead, who will be the voice of commuter students at ARU, helping shape a more inclusive, supportive, and engaging student community. They’ll work alongside students, staff, and external partners to bring ideas to life, lead campaigns, organise activities, and ensure commuter students feel represented and connected.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in leadership, communication, event planning, campaigning, and student representation — all while making a positive impact on campus life.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Represent commuter students and make sure their voices are heard in meetings and decision-making spaces.
  • Speak with students to understand their experiences and gather feedback on what could improve university life.
  • Help lead campaigns and projects focused on inclusion, wellbeing, accessibility, and student engagement.
  • Work with student groups, university staff, and external organisations to create opportunities and support for commuter students.
  • Promote events, activities, and discussions through social media, outreach, and student engagement.
  • Help create a stronger sense of community for students who commute to university.
