Finance Assistant

Chelmsford or Cambridge campus

(The post holder will nominate a home campus and will be required to work at other University sites on occasion.)

35 hours per week (flexibility required)

£ 25,695.46 per annum

It's an exciting time to join the team at ARU Students' Union! Due to the expansion of the team, we're recruiting a Finance Assistant. In this role, you'll play an essential role working with the Finance Team and supporting departmental managers in the effective delivery of projects. You will also provide financial support to the Finance Manager, Chief Executive and Managers, and to act as first point of contact for financial administration and queries.


What you'll be doing:

  • Co-ordinate daily banking sheets and ensure financial documentation, including invoices, is accurate and submitted daily.
  • Check all cashing up sheets match the till reports and ensure there are no discrepancies.
  • Ensure the completion of the daily banking for all campuses.
  • Liaise with University Finance over any amendments to daily banking sheets.
  • Monitor the sale of tickets, through the website and via ticket sellers.
  • Process all financial transactions (shop sales, clubs and societies, petty cash, PDQ’s etc.) and maintain accurate and up to date records.
  • Assist in the annual budget process for the whole Students’ Union.
  • Follow all financial procedures fully.
  • Ensure the club and society accounts are updated with all income and expenditure on a regular basis.
  • Provide support to managers with monthly reconciliation of departmental accounts in line with approved budgets.
  • Monitor transaction reports in conjunction with monthly accounts for all departments, raising queries with managers and following up with Finance as required.
